Lanzarote

In September 2008 I went to Lanzarote, my first holiday outside Britain and Ireland since my trip to Hawaii in 1984. I suppose I feel drawn to places with volcanoes. Cameras used Canon EOS 3, & Canon A 85

Timanfaya National Park

Timanfaya National Park, a lunar landscape area of lava and volcanoes. I craved to get out of the tour bus so I could take pictures without looking through the glass but it was not to be as we were processed along a conveyer belt of other coaches with no time to stop and properly absorb the beauty of this place

Lava floe I took this view of lava whilst waiting for the people in my coach to go on the camel ride
Timanfaya Love this wild space
Volcano This beautiful landscape is incredibly difficult to walk on, but view from a distance there is something so gorgeous in the shades of red and brown
Crater A crater with hidden depths
West Coast Los Hervideros on the west coast
Nr Haria A volcano in the northern area of the island near Haria
Salt A salt producing area on the south west coast
vineyard We visited a vineyard after the volcanoes, and tasted some wine. Interesting to see how the black rocks assist in growing the vines by storing the heat
Camels take a breather Camels taking a brief but well deserved break from carrying tourists
